It’s time for my February Beauty of the Month! Meet the drop dead gorgeous Britaña Campos. A New Mexican like me, she writes the wonderful fitness and lifestyle blog, Blogging with B, and owns the chic new women’s clothing store Savvy Boutique in Nob Hill. As a fitness competitor and beauty queen, she also knows a thing or two about staying in tip-top shape and has quite the passion for makeup. Enjoy the interview!
Tell us about your gorgeous self!
I am 24 years old and I live in beautiful Albuquerque, New Mexico. Right now, my life is nothing short of crazy, as I just opened a women’s clothing & accessory boutique in the heart of Nob Hill (Albuquerque) called Savvy Boutique! Savvy definitely keeps me on my toes, but I always make time for the gym and of course for my family. I’m a huge health nut with a competitive edge, that doesn’t seem to be going away any time soon! I have competed in fitness competitions and two pageants. I am taking a break from the pageant world, but have a potential fitness show jotted down on my summer agenda! In an effort to keep track of my fitness journey and to inspire others to live healthy lifestyles, I also have a blog where I post clean recipes and fit tips!

What are your 5 beauty products you can’t live without?
There are so many products I honestly can’t live without BUT I’ve narrowed them down to top 5!
1.) Proactiv- I used to struggle with acne and once I became a religious user of Proactiv, my skin has never been clearer.
2.) Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes - These little babies are a lifesaver! They take off all your makeup with just one soft swipe!
3.) Lorac TANtalizer Award Show Glow Mousse - Having a little bit of a tan (the safe way) definitely helps the appearance of toning. I mix about a quarter-size amount of the mousse with my daily lotion/moisturizer and apply to my legs and arms.
4.) Makeup Forever HD Finishing Powder - I LOVE this stuff! It’s like the hairspray of makeup. When I’m done applying my foundation and powder, I brush on the HD powder for an incredible airbrushed finish.
5.) Fan di Fendi perfume - This is by far my biggest confidence booster before I walk out the door in the morning. Spritzing a bit on my neck, wrists and blouse/dress always makes me feel fresh and beautiful—and ready to take on my work day!
Who is your beauty icon?
Jennifer Lopez! I am so fond of this gorgeous Latina. From her constant glowing skin to how she simply carries herself with such class; she’s someone I have always been so intrigued by.
The natural look: Underrated or Overrated?
So underrated! I am a huge fan of the natural look. In fact, I’m pretty sure I feel sexiest when I have no makeup, a baseball cap and a pair of yoga pants on. It’s so easy to go natural—and it speaks volumes of a woman’s confidence if she’s able to walk out of the house with a messy hair-do, no makeup and STILL feel like a million bucks.
Lipstick or lipgloss?
Lipgloss! I’ve always preferred a shiny, plump lip! My favorite lately is Makeup Forever Lab Shine in D2.
Go-to nail polish shade?
I don’t prefer any specific brand but I never stray away from a good ol’ bubblegum pink or hot shade coral!
Quick beauty tip?
Drink water! In the past, I never drank as much water as I knew I should have been drinking. Once I started having the recommended 8 glasses per day, (I now drink 1 gallon a day) my skin had a new glow and I definitely feel more energized and refreshed.
3 beauty items always in your purse?
Blistex lip balm, Clear Eyes eye drops and a Revlon easy glide-on concealer stick for easy, fast touch-ups.

Cheapest beauty item you love?
Clear Eyes eye drops. I have always felt my morning makeup routine is complete by ridding my eyes of any redness. When the whites of your eyes are clear and bright, you look awake, refreshed and rested. Plus, I take a lot of pride in my big, brown buggy eyes; I like to make them pop as much as possible! And a mere 2 bucks gets the job done.
Most expensive beauty item you love?
My Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette! I use it every single day. I favor taupe and neutral shadows, so it is definitely a palette that was made for me! The double-ended brush is perfect for application and blending. My favorite shadow from the palette is Snakebite.
Your hair is insanely gorgeous! Spill your hair secrets!
Thank you! I have to give full credit to the amount of protein I eat. Protein is so beneficial to not only your hair, but also your skin and nails. (I eat 25g of protein about 5-6 times a day.) I also take Fish Oil, which helps with hair growth. I only wash my hair every other day and I use Matrix Biolage shampoo and conditioner. Prior to blow drying my hair I apply Bed Head root booster to my roots. I blow dry my hair in sections using several, big roller brushes! And I get my hair trimmed about every 6-8 weeks! Fun fact: I have never had short hair, and lately I’ve been yearning for an edgy, angled bob!
You are in incredible shape! As a beauty queen and fitness competitor staying fit is clearly top priority. What’s your fitness routine like?
It is definitely a passion of mine! I wake up super early to make sure I can squeeze in both my weight training and my cardio in one session, because I’m at the boutique from 10 am-8pm. So, I wake up at 6:15am every morning and am in the gym by 7:00am. I work on a different muscle group everyday (6 days a week) and follow up with cardio 5 out of those 6 days. I take Sundays off; that recovery/rest day is crucial to me!
By reading your blog and following you on Instagram I can tell that you eat a very clean diet. What’s an average day of eating for you?
I eat A LOT! But I eat a lot of the right things. I eat mostly chicken, lean ground turkey, greek yogurt and egg whites. I have found that because I cook in bulk, fish just doesn’t last as long. (Slimey, cold tilapia is not so good!!) I cook all my food for the week on Sundays and package a protein (25g) with a complex carb (veggies or good, starchy carbs). I eat 5-6 times a day and drink a lot of water!
Here was today’s menu…
Meal 1: 4 egg whites, 1 whole egg with ½ a cup of oats and cinnamon.
Meal 2: 6 oz. chicken breast with spinach and cucumbers, drizzeled with lemon juice.
Meal 3: Lean turkey burger patty with onions and mustard and 4 oz homemade sweet potato fries.
Meal 4: 6 oz. Chicken breast and asparagus
Meal 5: Forza Pro Chocolate flavored protein shake. I always try to have my starchy carbs in the morning or before a workout!

Favorite healthy snack?
A cinnamon-apple flavored rice cake with natural sunflower seed butter! Yummy!
Favorite food indulgence?
Mexican food! On my cheat days, I love to try different restaurants. A good margarita and a basket of chips and salsas is a must on my cheat day!
Go-to easy, healthy recipe?
Chicken tacos! I sub the taco shell for a double-butter lettuce leaf and use a 4 oz. diced chicken breast. I top it with fresh pico de gallo and lime juice! Two words: fast and delish!
Quick skinny tip?
Eat small meals every 2.5-3 hours! By eating this often, your metabolism is forced to work overtime to burn calories! My meals consist of lean protein and lots of veggies. When I need to lean out for a competition, I increase my cardio! And I change my cardio to high intensity cardio (sprints, intervals, etc.) which keeps my heart rate up!
Favorite thing about living in New Mexico?
It’s familiar; it’s home. And there’s no place like home. My entire family lives in New Mexico, all a mere hour or less away from each other. It is such a comforting feeling, yet something I would never take advantage of, to have my family all in one beautiful state. (And, having chips and salsa as a complimentary appetizer at almost every New Mexican restaurant isn’t too shabby either!)
